Raising a Son

The Immigrant and the Outlaw is dedicated to Dan, since there are stories in it that kidded him some when he was about college age. He was a good sport about them.

Learning value of a dollar, childhood art, the Tooth Fairy, and a little coaching in table manners. “Who knew when he might be invited to dine at Terrace Hill, the Governor’s Mansion?”

Dan hasn’t been invited to dinner at the Governor’s Mansion (so far) but he has admitted it was nice not being nervous about what fork to use when a CPA firm’s interview included a meal in an upscale restaurant.

But while he was a Cub Scout, Dan did get to meet the longest serving governor in the United States, Iowa Governor Terry Branstad, at a Scouting event in 1985.

Dan and his mom, a few years ago. In time for Mother’s Day.

The stories about Dan are in Chapter 6: Raising a Son in The Immigrant and the Outlaw: A Collection of Stories from America’s Heartland will be released on Amazon.com May 13. The ebook is available for preorder now.

    • Thanks, John. I’d hoped to have the energy to set up a blog tour, but just couldn’t. But this has been more fun than I’d anticipated!
