This quilt came from the attic of the house my husband Guy grew up in. His mother couldn’t remember whether her mother made it or her mother-in-law. I have a note that a sister of Guy’s Grandma Rosie Coleman Kidney made these butterfly quilts outlined with black buttonhole stitching, so this may have been made by Grandma Rosie.
Glidden, Iowa. 76″ x 84″

What a beautiful quilt. I love the colors and the pretty butterflies. Grandma Rosie was a talented quilter.
Thank you, Linda. This one is actually quilted instead of tied, like a lot of them were.
Love, love, love! 🥰
Thanks, Vicki!
🥰
That bed is amazing! I love the way you’ve arranged everything, with the bed at an angle.
Thanks, Lynne. For a “master bedroom,” it’s small so the furniture is crowded. There’s a little table at the head of the bed, handy for my cpap, fan, etc.!
I have the same quilt. I believe it was made by my great grandmother. I also have the iron bed and dresser that belonged to my great grandparents.
These are precious treasures!
I love it, Kelly! Thanks so much for your note. I’d like to have an old dresser, but we’re blessed to have the old treasures we do enjoy.
That’s a beautiful quilt!
Thanks, Andrew!
The art and the patience is astounding
Thank you, Don. It’s actually relaxing.
Great handiwork.
Thank you, GP. And it’s something different!
It’s just mindboggling how that generation was so capable of creating such beautiful bedding, pillows, doilies, etc. and they had so little to work with! 🙂
Especially families in poverty. Nothing from fabric survived from my grandmother, not even her the wedding gown she made. I wonder whether fabric from it was used to make gowns for the three babies they lost during those days.
That could very well be. My mother-in-law made a baptismal gown for my husband and siblings out of my father-in-law’s WWII parachute.
Goosebumps!
That’s a beautiful design!
It is, isn’t it!
That beautiful quilt sure displays artistic talent, as do all the items in the photos.
Thanks, Tim. I enjoy them even though no pieces of furniture in the room goes with anything else!
I love the quilt. The room looks so inviting!!
Bless you, Liz. No piece of furniture matches another, but I enjoy it this way.
That’s the same as in my house. No pieces of furniture match. I have furnture from the Nova Scotia farmhouse, vintage pieces from my parents and bought at thrift shops. My husband and I like it this way!
Furniture with stories!
Exactly!
What a beautiful quilt! I love the colors and the butterflies! 🙂
Thank you, Linda!
